The Whole Person

One of the ways KCRM’s recovery residents find healing?  By serving others.

Last weekend, our Women’s Center clients and staff, along with a member from our executive team, were out in the weeds – mowing, raking, and cleaning up the yard of a disabled neighbor as part of a volunteer event for a local nonprofit, “The Whole Person.”

“We cleaned and raked the yard, pruned the trees, and prayed a blessing over the man and his home,” said Letiah Fraser, a Women’s Center staff member.

Clayton, the neighbor who received the assistance said he “couldn’t be happier” with his newly manicured lawn, a service which not gives his property a face-lift but also help him avoid unnecessary fines from the city.

“Giving back is part of the ‘home culture’ for Women’s Center residents,” said Fraser. “Volunteering can be an active part of recovery and a way that we  get involved in the community.”
